FIRST® Tech Challenge Japan Championship Bid Committee
Establishment of the FIRST Tech Challenge Japan Championship Bid Committee
-- Toward Hosting Japan’s First-Ever Official FTC Event --
To bring the internationally acclaimed robotics competition FIRST® Tech Challenge (FTC) to Japan for the first time, FID Inc. (Headquarters: Nishi-ku, Osaka / CEO: Yoshihide Mimatsu) officially established the FIRST Tech Challenge Japan Championship Bid Committee in May 2025.
Background: A Global-Standard Challenge for Japan’s Youth
Imagine teenagers designing and building robots, programming them, and collaborating as a team to tackle real-world challenges.Through this journey, they develop not only technical skills, but also creativity, problem-solving ability, and a global mindset.
However, in Japan today, there are still too few opportunities for young people to experience this kind of world-class, hands-on learning.
The lack of practical STEM and entrepreneurship education, especially during the critical developmental years of middle and high school, is a major factor contributing to the country’s stagnation in innovation.
Purpose and Structure of the Bid Committee
To address these challenges and provide Japan’s next generation with a global stage for growth and competition, FID Inc. has established the FTC Japan Championship Bid Committee to lead the effort to host the country’s first official FTC event.
The committee is organized in collaboration with alumni from Japan’s first official FTC team, 3πr.inc – 15300, and will carry out its mission through the following six divisions:
Organizational Structure
- Event & Logistics Division
- Technical & Game Operations Division
- Public Relations & Media Division
- Partnership & Sponsorship Division
- Education & Outreach Division
- Finance & Administration Division
Moving forward, the committee will deepen its collaboration with FTC Global Headquarters (FIRST®) and actively build partnerships with domestic and international educational institutions, companies, and local governments.
We are committed to laying the foundation for hosting Japan’s first official FTC championship and expanding access to world-class STEM opportunities for the country’s youth.
Creating Value for the Future (Our Mission)
This initiative is not merely about hosting a robotics competition. It aims to become a dynamic hub where students, companies, parents, and educators come together—where cutting-edge knowledge meets real-world practice—to shape the future.
In the United States, FTC is more than just a competition—it serves as a powerful platform that fosters strong partnerships between companies and student teams through sponsorships, internships, and hands-on collaboration. It represents a model where education and industry are deeply connected through real-world engagement.
However, in Japan, students have very few opportunities to engage meaningfully with companies. In most cases, their first point of contact comes during the job-hunting process. As a result, opportunities for students to gain real-world experience at an early stage are extremely limited.
We are committed to transforming this situation through the hosting of the FTC Japan Championship. During the event, we will hold panel discussions and interactive sessions featuring industry leaders, providing a platform to share the latest developments and market trends in cutting-edge fields such as AI, blockchain, and robotics. In addition, we will explore topics such as the future of talent development in the corporate world and the broader social challenges we face today.
Through these efforts, we seek to build a valuable platform where students, industry professionals, parents, and educators can engage meaningfully within a broader community.
Students
Whether students aspire to become entrepreneurs or pursue careers in innovation-related fields, they can engage directly with professionals across various industries. This allows them to build meaningful relationships and discover how to apply their passions in real-world contexts.
Corporate Leaders and Stakeholders
Corporate leaders and stakeholders gain the opportunity to share knowledge across industries and connect with future-oriented, high-potential talent.
Parents and Educators
Parents and educators benefit from direct conversations with corporate leaders, providing valuable insights into what kind of education truly prepares young people for the future.
